Tour at 10.00

Gorgeous weather today, sunshine, blue sky and not too windy. We started our trip with a visit to the puffins on Akurey and there were sooo many of them around :) . We are really happy to see them back in full force. Then we headed out to Faxaflói bay. After a while we spotted a minke whale. And it was in a generous mood. It surfaced plenty of times around our boat and came really close as well. Also, it did not seem to be in a hurry since it stayed with us for the entire trip. Very nice whale indeed :) . We watched it dive, surface and feed until it was time for us to head back to the harbour. A great tour!

The weather continued to be beautiful for our second tour today as well. As before we first stopped at Akurey for a short visit to the puffins and there were still plenty of them about. They are always such great fun to watch :) . Then we sailed out to the whale watching area and almost immediately spotted a minke whale. It did not seem to mind our company and stayed with us for the whole tour. It surfaced several times and gave everyone the opportunity for a good long look. So we sat and watched it until we had to sail back home.

Tour at 18.00

Last tour for today and the weather is still more than friendly. First stop was as before the puffin island Akurey where plenty of puffins were in residence. Then we were off to the bay in our search for whales. We searched the area for  quite a while but finally we spotted a minke whale. And what a great one it was :) . It surfaced really close to the boat, just about 10 metres away! Really nice! We watched this marvellous minke until it was time for us to sail back to the harbour.
